Confession: I have a ridiculous amount of upper body strength. Most of this is due to my previous martial arts training that I took up back when I was a pre-teen. A lot of my upper body strength also was a result of my previous basketball training I did as a highschool athlete. I have a quick punch, an awesome free throw shot, and I can now muscle my way though a number of kettlebell… Continue reading
I hope the subject line of this blog post has grabbed your attention.
Today’s Tuesday post is about how to release tension and knots in your body when foam rollers just wont cut it. After RKC Vienna, I was struggling with a lot of kinks in my legs and shoulders. Considering the volume and intensity of the weekend long certification, it was of no surprise that when I returned to Pittsburgh, I was… Continue reading
Over the weekend I had the great pleasure of attending a book signing and release party for the book “Gather-The Art of Paleo Entertaining”. On Friday night I was lucky enough to meet Bill Staley and Haley Mason, the authors of this incredible book and Pittsburgh city natives. This incredible couple took the time to compile paleo menu items that are tailored to specific dinner party themes. If you are into entertaining and… Continue reading
Sunday was a great day in the name of fitness here in the city of Pittsburgh. I had the great honor of cheering on a number of my college friends at this years marathon. A really good friend of mine from Saint Vincent College participated in the race and finished in 3 hours, and 27 minutes and 9 seconds. Her pace for the entire race held steady at 7 minutes and 55 seconds per mile.… Continue reading
This weekend in Pittsburgh is ging to be a Paleo Paradise and a half. REAL TALK!
I don’t have too much time today lovelies as I am gearing up for some truly amazing events right here in the heart of Pittsburgh. This weekend is all about eating smart and training hard, and with that in mind I just wanted to point yinz in the direction to some events that you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT MISS!
Today on primalburgher.com we will not be discussing eating smart or training hard. Today, I wanted to discuss a subject I am all to familiar with: Pittsburghese. Over the past year after having written my initial blog post about Pittsburghese, I have had a number of bloggers and even some instructor friends attempt to impress me by their use of Pittsburghese (which is odd but flattering at the same time). Now, I don’t mean… Continue reading
Happy Monday everyone! I hope you are all excited for the upcoming week and are ready to get back into the swing of things fitness wise (no pun intended. I swear! ) Last week I really wasn’t engaged in much exercise as I was still in recovery mode from RKC Vienna. To be completely honest, I really didnt’ do much but eat, sleep, eat some more, and did I mention sleep? My week-long break has… Continue reading
I just wanted to take some time today to make a quick announcement about the Pittsburgh Kettlebells Studio. This weekend we are hosting an open house event for yinz around the Greater Pittsburgh area. So…here’s what to expect.
Should you attend, you will be able to learn some basic kettlebell drills with all of our trainers. We will be doing some awesome demonstrations of strength, and you’ll get tomeet the newest member of our… Continue reading
While I was at RKC Veinna this weekend I was routinely asked if I was going to attempt the Iron Maiden challenge. My training protocols up until the weekend were completely focussed on one goal and one goal alone: passing the RKC. A few things happened on day one of the certification though that promptly gave me the courage to attempt the Iron Maiden challenge. First of all, I watched one of the male… Continue reading
